Abstract:
This is part of the IGAD Minimum Medical GIS Database. NDVI (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index) and Tmax (Channel 4-maximum temperature) images were downloaded from the USGS Eros Data Center from the AVHRR Global 1km dataset (<http://edcdaac.usgs.gov/1KM/1kmhomepage.html>). Seasonal composites were created by averaging images for the wet months (September through April) and dry months (October through March) together; annual composites were created by averaging the entire year (36 decadal images) together. The images were reprojected to Geographic Projection. Tmax images were scaled to Celsius values. NDVI images remain with the binary data values. To convert to NDVI indices use this formula: NDVI= ((NDVI (BD)-10)/100)-1.
Purpose: To be used as part of the IGAD Minimum Medical GIS Database.
